Rembrandt was for me a true expressionist. The emotion captured with paint and light, especially in his later self portraits is breathtaking.

The medium used in this painting was walnut oil, which gives an almost silky feel. In the Maestro’s painting you can really sense the anxiousness of the old soldier and these real emotions I love to capture in my own way.
